The Orton Academy differs from other independent school alternatives because it meets students where they are on an educational continuum and encourages them to go as far as they possibly can. There is no ceiling to the curriculum. Small class size allows teachers to work with varying ability levels and skills. Although a college preparatory school, Orton Academy does admit students whose goals may differ. The curriculum requires students participate in North Carolina required courses integrated with the beauty of fine arts and technology. The study of foreign and classical languages, music, art, physical education is not optional. The Orton Academy also seeks to promote self confidence through students speaking publicly, interacting appropriately with adults, and conducting themselves in a responsible and respectful way. Orton students have leadership and community service opportunities. The Academy challenges the students to be the best they can be intellectually, physically, and socially while developing their character. The Orton Academy provides the opportunities for students, parents and faculty to help students move forward. The small class size allows for all three to work together. |
